MEDIA TRAINING

Even the most cursory glance at any news bulletin will show how, under the glare of publicity, some shine whilst others stumble and sound increasingly unbelievable.

Chances are that those who succeed have benefited from training … from someone who knows how the media works. That’s because communicating effectively through TV and radio is a skill…And, like most skills, it can be learned.

Indeed, with the proliferation of broadcast media, it is essential that key members of any organisation possess the ability to present their case in an assured and credible manner.

In a one-day workshop, designed for four participants, RST provides a highly effective blend of technique and interactive experience that teaches and reinforces the required skills.

For this workshop, we provide all the crew and equipment, including interviewer and sound cameraman. By filming several exercises from statements to interviews, you will see the progress achieved as you learn to avoid common pitfalls and represent your organisation at it professional, confident best.

NB This is an essential workshop for any business that may at any time face the possibility of media interest.

Intended for:

Directors, partners, senior managers and other key personnel who may be required to talk to the media on behalf of their own, or a client, organisation.

The benefits:

Delegates will avoid common pitfalls, remain ‘on message' and present information in a clear and credible form (learning the art and value of the sound-bite).

Number of delegates:

This is a one-day workshop for four to five people.

The cost:

The cost of the Media Workshop is £1,500 including all equipment.

PRESENTATION SKILLS

In almost any situation – whether convincing clients or colleagues or pitching for new business – by far the greatest influence comes from your appearance, tone and body language. Analysts suggest it accounts for 90% of what sways an audience… while the actual content counts for just 10%.

It may not sound fair – but it is a fact!

Fortunately, help is at hand. For, although you may not be able to change your looks, we are able to arm you with the techniques and skills that are essential for presenting yourself and your company as professional, successful and utterly trustworthy.

FORUM DRAMA AND PROFESSIONAL ROLE-PLAY

FORUM DRAMA – A DEFINITION

Each Forum Drama Workshop is specially designed to meet the individual needs of the organisation involved. Forum Drama Workshops allow your company to act with the benefit of hindsight, to experience a situation and role-play the alternatives. Step by step your organisation will be able to develop and refine appropriate solutions and strategies.

Once RST has received your company’s brief we devise a range of scenarios to characterize the issues involved. Participants are then free to work with the characters to change the outcomes of the scene. They do this safe in the knowledge that the actors will do the embarrassing bits!

Using the improvisation skills of the actors the participants experience a given situation from a series of perspectives. Using ‘play, rewind, replay’ participants can direct the actors to make changes knowing that if they don’t like the result it can be altered immediately. Contributors are free to abandon or adapt any change they feel are inappropriate, work in co-operation with colleagues to create strategies and discuss outcomes.

Forum is safe, motivating and thought-provoking, contributors find it liberating and are repeatedly astounded by the range of possibilities they can explore.

PROFESSIONAL ROLE-PLAY – WHAT IS IT?

Ever wondered how members of your staff appear to your clients or customers? Do they present your company at its most professional and competent? Or do they let personal – often unguarded – reactions get the better of them and compromise their performance … and your image?

By providing an opportunity for role-play in a sage yet challenging environment, employees can perfect people skills that will enable them to handle existing clients more effectively and attract new business – even in the most trying conditions.

RST offers two workshops. One is ideal for employees of companies who regularly deal with a wide cross-section of the public, such as banks, call-centres or sales organisations. The other is suited to those companies seeking to achieve and sustain the highest standard of interpersonal skills from their staff when dealing with important clients.

The team presenting the workshop provides constant feedback and constructive criticism to ensure that progress is rapid yet permanent.
Intended for

Staff at all levels – from management down – who are in contact with individual customers or long-term clients.
The benefits

The course will help delegates increase self-awareness, increase confidence and learn to communicate clearly, constructively and assertively (without damaging aggression and defensiveness).

Duration

A two-day course – usually run over a weekend.

Number of Participants

Both courses are suitable for 20-30 people.

The Cost

The cost of the Role-play Workshop is £200 per delegate.
